Suggestion to add gravestone question to photo request page | Again great site - with great mission/objectives.
I just requested a photo and noticed the comment - that lots of spammers send messages through that page.
Why not add a creative gravestone question - similar to what has been added to this comments/feedback page ?
Thanks and regards,
Jaime

BISHOP | The larger image solved a problem. | Thank you so much for sending the link to the picture of Thomas Bishop's grave in Beeston Regis churchyard. I have been researching him because he was one of the fishermen drowned in the Great Storm of 1807, along with five others including my 3 x gt. grandfather, Richard Little. I don't think he was related to me, though. The website wrongly lists his age at death as 88, whereas he was actually 33, so I thought this was the grave of a different Thomas Bishop, but with the larger picture I can see that it was not. Thank you for helping me to clear that up! | 21/07/2017 | 8076 |

EYLES | RAF Service | My uncle, George Lawrence Eyles, was killed when The Bristol Beaufort Mk 1 he was navigating plunged into the estuary of the River Taw as it approached RAF Chivenor on the night of December 7th 1941. He died along with the pilot and wireless operator but the rear gunner survived. It is almost certain that a catastrophic failure of the aircraft occurred, most likely a jamming of a wing tab making the aircraft uncontrollable. An eye witness saw the aircraft approach and dip one wing violently before plunging nose first into the water. The Beaufort experienced many similar accidents, especially amongst those built in Australia for their airforce. Being wartime it was hushed up. I am writing a history of my mother's family so I am particularly grateful for this photograph of his headstone. | 20/07/2017 | 8068 |
