RABETTAn excellent resourceVia this website, I have just found the image of the monumental inscription of my 7 x great grandfather John Rabett (1663 - 1702). What a marvellous resource. I also found his PCC proved will elsewhere and was able to use both resources to validate his children, parents, wife and father-in-law.... fantastic, keep up this great work for researchers.

RALPHSRemarkable serviceThis is the first time I have used this site, and I just wanted to say what an excellent resource it is - not only in the content but in the way that privacy issues, etc, have been handled. Some such web sites have photos that are too small to be of use, but this personalised service is really wonderful. Thank you so much.

RANDALLAn extremely useful sourceThank-you very much for the Randall gravestone picture this is a unique service particularly as this information will and is beginning to die through decay of gravestones or churchyards! You have my admiration for the time and, yes, cost that you must give to this service. If I thought that I could devote some time to photographing our local church I would but I would not want to start something which I could not finish. The number of gravestones here is quite daunting. Again many thanks .... more

RANSONgravestone imageThank you very, very much for your quick response. It was a good thing that I had read on your site to check my Junk Mail folder, as that was where the mail with the photo went! Your website has solved a mystery for me as I had been unable to find these burials in the Parish records, especially as they were buried in a church some miles from where they lived. Your work has enabled many people to experience that wonderful moment when you find a family grave. Thank you once again your work is much appreciated. This has also given me the incentive to find out how I can help by photographing graves in churches which I travel to on my own searches.

RAWDENGrave No. 144620; Image 154 - Leslie and Mary RawdenMany thanks for the image, and for the speed with which you provided it. It has proved invaluable in my family research. I have one comment. This is not a complaint, merely an observation. The image is a little out of focus, and on a slight slant. If anyone has the opportunity to take a better quality photograph and upload it, I think this would be an improvement. I live more than 200 miles away, but may be in the area next month. If I am, I’ll take a new picture and upload it.

REDFERNJoseph Elmer Peacock 1878-1885There is some confusion about the relationships on Josephs tombstone. He died when he was 7 and cant be the father of Jessie who not born until 1913 and is likely the daughter of Samuel Redfern. Also, Samuel Redfern cant be the father of Joseph as he was only 2 when Joseph was born. RENYARDRenyards and NorrisesHaving done an ancestry DNA test recently I've discovered new cousins, some several times removed but all interesting to explore the past with. One such cousin told me about the Beaulieu connection and I've been delighted to note the Renyards and Norrises in the graveyard. This is a really helpful website, especially since I'm in Australia and can't view the graves myself! Many thanks for your help - I'm looking forward to finding more relatives as time goes by, especially those connected to Edmund Renyard and Sarah Ann Renyard (nee Norris). Glad to hear from anyone who can help.

RICEJames Rice, BerrowJames Rice is the husband of Augusta Mary Rice, nee King. His son Frederick William Rice and his wife Marion's grave is next along. Below the bank nearer the church is James and Augusta's daughter Elizabeth Day. Too the right of the churchyard entrance gate, some way along is J & A's second son Robert Rice. Continuing around the right hand side of the church is a larger cross monument with James's parents George and Sarah Rice plus some other family members. The family lived at Heal House in Berrow from the 1870's until the 1970's. Frederick and Marion lived at Burton Row Farm, Brent Knoll until Fred's tragic drowning in 1944. Marion survived him by almost 50 yrs and lived her later years out back at Burton Row.

RICHARDSONGraves in Peckham, South London and nearbyHello, I'd love to see a picture of the grave of my Grandfather and/or Grandmother, George and Jessie Richardson. They lived in Peckham, South London, so I presume they are buried there or nearby. George would have died sometime prior to 1950, I think, and Jessie died sometime around 1960. I can't be more precise than that. If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful. Charlie Richardson

RICHARDSONWhat a great service you are providing! It was wonderful to see a picture of something tangible that's related to a very kind couple that I used to sometimes stay with when I was a kid. They were terrific friends to my Mum and Dad, and they gave me an early insight into life outside of London's inner city. My request for the picture of the gravestone was answered within 24 hours, and it's just very heartening to know that people are taking the trouble to run this service for no material reward. Thanks to the people running the site and to the volunteers going out and taking the pictures.

14/06/2010413
RITCHIEThe Reverend David Ritchie 1762 to 1844 Being able to view the Gravestone of the Reverend Ritchie will no doubt help no end in a linked search. I am also very impressed at the speed in which my request has been processed. There is so much more to looking at an old or ancient monumental description. I have in the past found it to be a kind of trigger and on one occasion at least when I found that there was no marker at all in a cemetery the unexpected happened. The ancestor at that time wasn't even one of mine, just someone that I had been asked to help find in Australia by someone else in England. Within the week that ancestor's grand-daughter walked into our office and in only a few moments I not only learned who she was but every vital detail about her grand-father. Two months later the grand-daughter was able to call on and see her long lost cousin in Yorkshire. Never give up, Malcolm Hutton

ROBERTSONHarry James Robertson (1871-1947) grave informationThe information given on the entry about my 1st cousin 3x removed Harry James Robertson's gravestone says that his daughter Marjorie Beatrice Robertson married a Percy Victor Sharpin but this is, I believe, a case of the wrong Marjorie. Harry's daughter Marjorie B. Robertson married Hugh Westing Lewell in 1933 (using the name Robertson so it appears that she was not previously married to Mr Sharpin or anyone else). I wonder if this could be corrected in case it leads anyone up the wrong path?

ROBINRelationshipIn the list for the Wesleayan Cemetery, there are four members of the Robin family, but the relationships were not displayed - probably not known. Theophilus Robin was the father, and Stella Ann (Ansell) Robin his wife. Alfred Robin was their first-born son, and Stella May Robin was one of their daughters.

The Robinson family I am interested in came from Bramley (Leeds, Yorkshire, U.K.) and the ones I am interested lived there from as far back as I can find (abt. 1800) through the 1800s. ROBSONthank you - excellent work - LEAROYD GRAHAM ROBSONHi, thanks so very much for the work you're doing! This is an incredible rescource, and very meaningful task - the photos are great! As I am studying from overseas, it's of course particularly essential in our case. Fridaythorpe, Malton, Thixendale, Pocklington, Hunslet, Bridlington, Sledmere, Rillington - these are hardly even the start of a large list of Yorkshire locations we're investigating - ancestor names Graham, Ruston, Robson, Midgley just among several also! Anyone who loves genealogy, or has good knowledge of how to pursue it there specifically - being abroad, centuries and many generations gone, is not so easy - feel free to ask or respond, thanks!

24/09/20178474
ROBSONGenealogy in a nameAmazing how much genealogy a name and dates can open up. Robert Robson is not very unique but his wife Evelyn Winifred Boys Dickson tells her mothers surname 'Boys' and makes it easy to locate her with her parents John Henry Dickson and her mother Edith Mary Naomi Dickson. Their marriage confirmed the mother's maiden name 'Boys'. So very helpful! Thanks for this fantastic service.

ROWEGravestone of Alfred Slater RoweYour site is a most helpful and efficient facility and I am most grateful for the photograph showing Alfred Rowe's inscription. Although his father, the Reverend Samuel Rowe, died in Lytham St Anne's in Lancashire, he specially requested to be buried with this young son. Would it be too demanding of me to request the photograph showing Samuel's inscription? It would help to illustrate the father's final wish. Many thanks, Jennifer

Along with the helpful pictures kindly provided free of charge, the birth and death dates and names are there to help people in their family research or confirmation of that research. Thanks.

RUDKINCharles Iliffe RudkinMany Thanks for the photo link. Unfortunately the subject is a little out of focus - if you have another image and could send it would be great. I think the service you offer really does help researchers link a few reference numbers with an actual person. I am sure that for some researchers overseas this is invaluable to provide a tangible link. Many thanks for the service, which I will look to use again. Shame about the image though.
