ILLMANJohn Illman 1778-1850Thank you for supplying this image so promptly. The image is excellent although the gravestone itself is badly weathered, but I didn't expect to find anything at all relating to an ancestor of that generation. This is an invaluable resource.

FIDLERMANY THANKSMany thanks for the sterling efforts of the individuals and teams involved in bringing this site and facility to life. As a part-time ancestry researcher for friends and family, the reaction when one can produce such detail and images as you now provide is overwhelming and very, very much appreciated by the families concerned; even more so nowadays with extended families spread across the country and, indeed, world.

OVENDEN Thank you so muchThanks so much for all your hard work. Makes for a wonderful surprise when researching from Western Australia and not being able to visit these lovely old places to help with our family research. Muchly appreciated. My 6th great grandmother was Avis Ovenden and I'm finding it really hard to find her parents. Maybe notes on a headstone might hide the answers. Thank you so much. I hope this is Avis's family as there seems to be many Ovenden in the cemetery. She was born 1780-1795 in Blackham, Sussex. Fingers crossed.

I agree with others who have said that we are so lucky to have someone so dedicated and willing to help others. FOWLESApparrent duplicationI am researching the FOWLES family in Worcestershire, England. There appear to be two gravestones for Mary FOWLES [died 1893] No. 3008 at St James, Callow End and No. S6300063 at St Peter, Powick. The photos of each grave look the same to me. The people on the gravestone are the same except that Mary is 83 on the Callow End Entry and 80 on the Powick one. Her death registration is as follows: FOWLES, MARY; Aged 80 [thus born about 1813]; GRO Ref.: 1893 Q4 in UPTON-ON-SEVERN Vol. 6C Page 190. Both Powick and Callow End are in the Upton-on-Severn Registration District. Mary FOWLES nee NEWMAN married William FOWLES 06 Oct 1834 at All Saints, Worcester, Worcestershire, England. Their son Mark Henry FOWLES was baptised 28 Feb 1841 in Madresfield, Worcestershire, England. He died in Worcester Infirmary 25 September 1903 although he was living Saltmarsh Castle, Bromyard, Herefordshire where he was presumably a farm bailiff.

HARRISThis is a wonderful service and I have used it several times. Fast and friendly response. Charles iI have found several gravestones on this site, as well as added information on my ancestors to help others that may find them. It is so great to find these stones in England where I cannot go to get to them. The photos are clear and of good resolution, as well as having the information transcribed. And this recent gravestone gave me some startling news. Thomas Harris was born in 1722 and died in 1829. Yes this man born in the early 1700's lived to be 107 years old. Wow. Thanks again, Charles. You are very appreciated by many.

MORRISGravestonesI am wondering whether any work has been done photographing Oxford cemeteries, Kirtlington in particular. My Gt.Grandmother, Emily Morris came to New Zealand in the early 1870s, and research has shown that there were a considerable number of Morris family members in the Kirtlington Parsh records, also a generation back to the John Smith family. Thank you for the great help you provide. Jan.

26/03/20177304
ROBINSONMany thanksThank you so much for the excellent photo of the gravestone of my Gt.Grandfather, Charles Titus Robinson, his wife Ann, and Son Edward Henry Robinson. It is indexed under Titus, but the surname is actually Robinson. I had an old black and white photo of the grave, so it was wonderful to receive such a clear coloured photo to include in my family history. The work you do in providing an excellent free resource is greatly appreciated.
