I was able to add a little to the details of those mentioned on the stone. The details for the person named at the bottom of the stone, Richard Furneaux Weekes, were not clear on this image, as is often the case for such entries closest to the ground. The surname was correctly spelt CREES whereas her entry in the GRO Death Index is CRESS. In the Charlwood Burial register it was written CRESS but was then deleted and replaced by CRERS. My father was born in England and came to New Zealand when he was just 16 years old. I never had the opportunity to meet my grandparents (his parents) so I was amazed when I was able to download a photo of my grandmothers headstone.
