LUKERVolunteering and Snapshotting in Time the CemeteryIt's great to get involved. Due to decreasing medium-size particle pollutants, lichen and moss are taking over many graves. The plant life may be very pretty, quite trim and a country garden in many cemeteries near me, but unfortately this has been to the detriment of graves - but some hope now exists!

DAWSONThank you so muchAlthough Suffolk is only 100 odd miles away, it is still a journey that I would not be able to make. Suffolk holds many affectionate memories for me, and to be able to see actual images of my Nan's family's graves is really very special. You have my humble gratitude. Kind Regards Phil How

Now to research further and maybe find a sister of my great grandfather, Richard Stockdale. The local cemetary here in Maryborough, QLD, Australia is already on your system, but, should I re-locate, I'll gladly photograph and submit to your files.

HINSCLIFFBasil, Eliza, Emma, Matthew and Percy Hinscliff of WetherbyIt is very satisfying to be able to have a photo of a family grave after such a long time. We visited Wetherby in 1989 but were unable to obtain any details of graves etc. My father immigrated to Perth, Western Australia in 1929 and never returned to see his father Matthew or mother Emma again.

BEAMSThank youThank you for the photo of the garavestone sent to me. This is a fantastic website as it is preserving a lot of history that we are in danger of losing due to the daft health and Safety rules that are having a lot of stones removed. Keep up the good work.

STACEYmonument transcriptionA second extra big thank you because I have just realized that the transcriptions provided for the gravestones photographed contain valuable information not readable in the photographs. The photographs alone would have been lovely, tantalizing and very very frustrating without the transcription. So to who ever spent all that time in the graveyard of St.Mary the Virgin, Tadcaster, a big thank you from the colonies.

29/06/2010439
WATERHOUSE Waterhouse Thank you very much for the two photographs of Waterhouse graves at Tadcaster. Seeing the gravestones brings this family to life again, no longer just names on a page. I have a photograph of Charlotte Waterhouse if anyone is interested.

I appreciate all of the time and effort it must take to host such a fabulous resource and I do hope that people that have benefitted from it can do their part and take photographs at their local cemetaries and send them to you. MORRISONThank youDear Mr Sale,I would like to say thank you for a wonderful gift. Never would I have imagined that I would ever have known where they we're buried but, to have actually seen there stone is just incredible! I understand that many people have not acknowledged the hard work that must go into providing them a picture of something that they otherwise may never have seen. I am sure you have provided them with an awe inspiring moment and It must have been an oversight on their part to not acknowledge you. Keep up the great work. You certainly are special.

SCOTTExcellent SiteThank you so much Charles for the image of Mungo's grave.I knew that Mungo had died in 1918, but couldnae find a death certificate, either at Register House or through the Commonwealth War Graves (CWGC)website, so the description on the gravestone explains my lack of gaining any information on his death. I have found that his death was registered in Plymouth & I have now requested the death certificate from the English Archives. Thank you so very much.I did know about Thomas, who was lost in WW1, as I found out that he is buried at Courtrai, through the CWGC.Certainly it looks like the gravestones at Kirkliston may contain additional information on my Scott/Chapman relations and I know that others are buried there. Whilst I realise that you are running the project from your own resources, I will not request too many images, but I have found this source of information to be invaluable and sincerely thank you.It is pleasing to note that Mungo has a fitting memorial. .... more
