HARVEYBrilliantI have started to try to research my Maternal family. Thanks to this website I have located my great grandfather and great grandmother's grave alongside their son, my great uncle who sadly passed away age 18 in 1918 from the spanish influenza, just at the end of WW1. I cannot appreciate this enough because it is validating my family. Many many thanks.

PEDLEYHarry, Lillian & Margaret PedleyHarry Pedley was born 1888 in Nantwich, the son of Thomas William Pedley and Harriet nee Cope. He served as a driver in the Royal Army Service Corps in WW1 and worked as a chauffeur after the War. He married Lillian Clare Smith at Kingston Parish Church on 9 June 1917. They had 4 children. Margaret Ann Pedley was born 26 February 1932 and married William Patrick Quinlan in 1966. There were no children. Margaret Ann Quinlan of 4 Katherine Close Tylers Green Bucks died 30 August 1984. Probate Oxford 17 December 1984. £5505 or about £19,300 at 2008 prices.

Thomas Edmund Harland and Ellen Anna ChaldecottThey were both children of Thomas Andrewes Chaldecott, surgeon, and Ellen nee Lucas, of Chertsey. Neither married. Thomas Edmund Harland was born 7 January 1861. The date of birth is from the Doggett family tree. It is corroborated by this report in the Times of India of 5 February 1861:

Thomas Watts and Mary ChaldecottThomas Watts Chaldecott was born 6 August 1793 in Chichester, the son of Thomas Chaldecott, goldsmith, and Mary nee Goddard. He married Mary Doggett on 3 March 1803 at St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey. She was the daughter of Frederick Doggett, hop factor, and Ann nee Dawborn, both Quakers. Thomas Watts and Mary Chaldecott had 11 children. Thomas was a surgeon. His Will was granted probate on 2 October 1876 in these terms: "The Will of Thomas Watts Chaldecott late of Addlestone in the County of Surrey Surgeon who died 18 July 1876 at Addlestone was proved at the Principal Registry by Mary Chaldecott of Addlestone Widow the Relict the sole Executrix" Effects under £450, or about £186,000 at 2002 prices

She remembers visiting the grave with her grandparents when she was a small child. She is now 74 and sadly has long since moved from the area so thank goodness for the dedicated work of poeple like you who can keep our family history alive and preserve it for others to find.
