Humphrey Grey birth and death dates

Hi, I just noticed that the dates for Humphrey may have been misread due to the condition of the grave. It reads Humphrey Grey 1817 68 1749 husband of Catherine Grey Humphrey died in 1868 aged 88 years hence birth year is 1780 Grey. � On 4th May, at his residence, Eastbourne, Avoca, Humphrey Grey, Esq, aged 88 years.
