GEORGE
Private George Brookes, Rank Number 4459, born Wrockwardine Wood, Shropshire. Son of William & Eliza Brookes. George had 5 siblings, Emma b 1868, William b 1872, Samuel b 1873, Thomas b 1875 and Florence b 1877.
George's brother Thomas married a Lilian Turner and they had Annie b 1898, Albert b 1902 (my grandad), Gladys b 1904, Horace b 1907, George b 1908 and Norah b 1910.
Private George Brookes was gassed in the First World War, he was discharged from the Army on 26th August 1915 aged 43 years and 84 days. He died on the 29th August 1915.
