The Gravestone Photographic Resource project is an attempt to provide a much needed on-line resource for family historians.

The aim of the project is to digitally photograph and index grave monuments worldwide that are currently legible. The project has already photographed and indexed many English graveyards as well as others from around the world but there is still much to be done.

The project needs more volunteers!

To further enhance the information provided by the project, a number of topics relating to burial monuments will be added to the site. These topics will include:

• Damage to grave monuments
• Stone masons and their craft
• Litchen that grow on monuments
• Wildlife with churchyards
• Unusual architecture
• Interesting and famous graves
• How and why grave monuments become illegible
