She set up the The Edinburgh Society for Promoting Reading among the Adult Blind in their own Home and with her brother Alexander, the Jamieson Fund to aid the blind of Edinburgh, Lothian and Borders.

Alexander Jamieson1832751907 Alexander Jamieson 03 Mar 1832-08 April 1907. He was the sixth and last child of William and Helen ms Abernethy. He was born in 34 Howe Street Edinburgh. He lived in Graham Street Leith and in 1846-49, had business premises a few doors down at no 17 where he was a Wine and Tea Merchant. He set up the Jamieson Fund with his sister, Elizabeth to help blind people learn Braille and to enable them to live independently.

Was born in 44 Howe Street Edinburgh, Lived in Graham Street Leith before residing in 34 Howe Street with his mother and siblings. He became a Wholesaler of coffee,fruit and spices.

Had 6 children Helen,Janet, Elizabeth,Robert, Jane and Alexander.After her husband's death in 1836 she is known to have lived in Graham Street, Leith before moving with the family to 34 Howe Street Edinburgh where she stayed until her death.
