Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Jemima Johnston was born in NZ about 3 years before records were kept. The ship her father was on the Brigand (maybe China -NZ)was attacked by natives Isle of Marree 1845, he was killed. She was brought up in Edinburgh by Dad`s family and died in Portobello. The G`parents home is still standing(I believe) 69 Rose St, next door to a popular Dining Room specialising in fish meals.

I belive that this is a family monument on my wife's side. If my research (and your photo) are correct, then Agnes Craig Johnston is a daughter of Thomas Johnston (who worked as a Wright in Edinburgh). Her brother (i think) was James Hope Johnston, who was killed by natives in 1843(?) whilst on board the 'Brigand' in the south seas near Australia. If you could send me a copy of this monument, then I may be able to connect to and prove my research of other family members that I have been researching for a number of years. Many Thanks Trefor Jones. (I visit Edinburgh occasionally and will gladly pass any photos of monuments I take to your excellent project.

I suspect James H JOHNSTON was born James MURRAY (mother Jessie MURRAY) who is 4 months old and with his father in the 1841 East Calder census. Thomas & Jessie married after James' birth and are my 3 x great-grandparents.
