Georges de Lauris1876871963 Georges de Lauris was an author and critic; and a close friend of André Gide and especially Marcel Proust who helped him prepare his first novel for publication. Lauris was the first person that Proust asked for advice on the use of the name Guérmant as the central character of 'A la recherche du temps perdu'; and Lauris and his wife were the models for Saint-Loup and Gilberte in the novel . Their tomb is close to that of Julia Bartet; who also partially served as a model for another character in the same epic book.
