His occupation was Shop Keeper and Baker. He and wife Ann had 10 children,3 listed on headstone. His son James and his wife Jane left England for New York in 1842. His son Francis and his wife Elizabeth, and most of their children left England around 1881 for Australia. His grandson John Frances Simpson was a U.S. Sharp Shooter, and then a Sgt. in the Seventh Michigan Cavalry under Col. George Custer during the American Civil War.
