He and wife Ann had 10 children,3 listed on headstone. His son James and his wife Jane left England for New York in 1842. His son Francis and his wife Elizabeth, and most of their children left England around 1881 for Australia. His grandson John Frances Simpson was a U.S. Sharp Shooter, and then a Sgt. in the Seventh Michigan Cavalry under Col. George Custer during the American Civil War.

John Simpson	1837	21	1816	son of Frances Simpson	He was the 4th child of Frances and Mary (Walkington)Simpson. He was born in Kirkbymoorside in 1816. He died at the age of 21 in 1837, in Kirkbymoorside. His elder brother James immigrated to New York and named his firstborn son John after him.

This is my 7x great grandfather. i am the great granddaughter of Alice Ann Simpson born 1879 in Bradford, UK. She is on the 1881 census at 40 Almond street, Bradford, with her mother Ellen Jones Simpson(Hillary), sister, and Hillary grandparents. She came to Queensland with her father William Simpson, and married in Perth Western Australia about 1903. she had my grandmother Florence Louis Wright in 1910.
