Richard DUNKLEY lived most of his life in Blisworth, Northamptonshire. He was a major building contractor working for London - Birmingham Railway (subsequently LNWR) he also built a number of public buildings and high status residences in Northamptonshire. He married Lucy Carter in 1827 in Blisworth and they had 10 children although 4 died young. Lucy Dunkley died in 1871 aged 65 and is buried in Blisworth in a tomb of similar shape to Richard's at Alby. One of Richard's daughters, Elizabeth married Rev. Edwin Puckle, then curate of Blisworth but who subsequently became Rector of Alby.
