Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

John Henry Field was my great-grandfather and Edward Thurlow Field my grandfather. While I have photographed this monument myself, the wording is not as clear as I would have hoped. This monument of high quality Italian marble had been vandalised and had lain on the ground for some years. In 2009 I contacted several Field descendants who all contributed to its restoration. The work was completed in April of 2010. John Henry Field was an Auckland City Councillor and Edward Thurlow Field an Auckland barrister and solicitor.
