After Elizabeth died, he married her sister Charlotte Pettus 1749-1804. They were daughters of Sir Horatio Pettus (6th and last Baronet of Rackheath). John Richard Dashwood's mother, Anna Maria Pettus and Horatio Pettus 1707-1772 were siblings. John Richard Dashwood therefore married his 1st cousin on both occasions.
