He died in action on 9th May 1915. He received the Distinguished Service Medal and the Cross of St George 4th class (Russia). He is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, on the Kirton-in-Lindsey War Memorial and on the memorial at St. Peter`s Church in St. Peter`s Avenue, Cleethorpes.
