He attracted the attention of Prince Henry of Prussia; brother of Frederick the Great; and Prince Henry arranged for Frédéric to take up the appointment of professor of history at the Berlin Military Academy. In 1806 he was appointed tutor to the future king Frederick William IV of Prussia; and in 1831 he became the Foreign Minister. |

Her Polish Protestant grandfather was Daniel Chodowiecki; the most popular Prussian painter and engraver of the 18th century; and her father was the librarian of the royal library. | ||||||

They lived a sumptuous lifestyle; and were amongst the leaders of Berlin society; as friends of the king and acquaintances of the Goethe and the Romantic author E.T.A Hoffmann. Madame du Titre; as she was known; was renowned for speaking a curious mix of French and German; which often gave rise to both confusion and some hilarity. |

With the resulting wealth; he developed an important art collection which he displayed to the public and part of which now is displayed in the Bode Museum in Berlin. He was an adept of occultism; and predicted - correctly - that he would died in 1861. |
