33DickLennard Edward Dick1851561907id: p252020081941Lennard Edward DICK married Florence Goddard SOLTAU at St James, Piccadilly, on 25 Apr 1889 (from the Belfast News-Letter, 29 Apr 1889). As a Commander, he was placed on the Royal Navy Retired List at his own request, with permission to assume the rank of Captain, on 16 Jul 1898 (London Gazette, 22 Jul 1898). He and Florence had daughters: Lena Florence DICK, b. Plymouth 1890; Muriel Agnes DICK, b. Plymouth 1891, d. Five Trees, Ascot, Berks, 8 Dec 1945; Constance Violet DICK, b. Plymouth 1892, d. Westminster 1954; Dorothy Frances DICK, b. Ramsgate 1898, m. Hereward Reid SHARMAN in Kensington registration district in 1930 (he was b. Wellingborough 1875; d. 9 Mar 1933 at Empire Nursing Home, Vincent Square, London: he had a number of children by his first wife Sylvia Margaret JACKSON). Florence and Lennard had one or two other children who had died before the 1911 census (it is unclear as the entry reads a total of five children, with four living and two dead; since the four daughters listed were all alive in 1911, it seems likely that two children had died before 1911).
