St Leonard's Church burial ground, Deal
The ancient parish church of the Cinque Port of Deal contains many 18th century gravestones and a few of the 17th century. The earliest stone found in the graveyard relates to a burial in 1666. Many of these stones are badly weathered and wholly or partly illegible. The transcriptions undertaken in the late 18th century and published at http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk have been used to supplement the photographs where possible. The church was locked at the time of my visit and so there are no photographs of the interior. All legible stones in the graveyard have been transcribed. h
