Curiosity and family interest. I visited the churchyard two years ago in search of the stone of H.E.S. Stiven (erected in 1956) and failed to find it. He was my grandmother's second husband, brought my father up as his own and whose belongings always have surrounded me. Edward W. F. Stiven was H.E.S (Harold)'s father. This morning I've unexpectedly received a photo of the whole family taken in, I think, the year Ned died, 1902. On the back are noted the names of the children but not the name of their mother. Stupidly I didn't look inside the church (I had an appointment at the school and ran out of time), and the monument in the small picture looks as though it is a brass plaque to Ned (and hopefully his widow) inside the church.Thank you for including the photograph on your web site.
