Several members of the Rigaud family are buried in this cemetery. They were a distinguished noble family which included several generals; a governor of New France (Canada); and a governor of the Louvre. Jean Louis served in the French forces during the American War of Independence; and was attached to the staff of George Washington at the battle of Yorktown. He remained loyal to the Royalist forces during the revolutionary and Napoleonic periods.
