Eliza was the wife of James Selmes of Tufton Place (previously known as Northiam Place), Northiam. She was christened Eliza Pilcher on 19th NOV 1804 at Rye, Sussex, and died 10 May 1884 at Northridge a mile to the NW of Tufton Place. Her will was proved by James Selmes of Lossenham, Newenden, Kent and Charles Selmes of Broomhill Lodge Rye, Sussex, both Gentlemen her Sons and Executors.
