William came to South Australia on the ship Baboo in 1848 after his first wife died and leaving his young daughter in England in the care of her two aunts. William met Anne Carter on the ship and they married in Adelaide soon after arrival. They went on to have 6 children. Henry developed a brick making business at Wattle Flat which was carried on by his son and his grandson. The property is still owned by his great grandson but the brickworks are no longer operating.
