Edwin was a well known mariner from Titchfield, Hampshire. Edwin knew the owners of all the Ocean Greyhounds of his day and competed in many of the races, one being The Kaiser’s Cup on a 330 mile race from Dover to Heligoland in the Gwynfa, losing by only 40 minutes and that because a squall hit the boat in the North Sea. After retiring from the sea he and his wife settled in Warsash, Hampshire and took up strawberry farming.
