Margaret, known as Madge, wasa prominent golfer with the Midlothian County Ladies Golf Association and she represented Scotland in International matches every year from 1905 to 1914. She was also a member of St. Andrew’s Ambulance Association and qualified in First Aid and Nursing. In 1914 Madge joined the Scottish Women’s Hospital went to Serbia to assist in tending the many wounded under the authority of the French Red Cross. However there was a typhus epidemic in the area to which Madge sadly became a victim and she died on 8th March 1915. Madge is buried in Chela Kula Military Cemetery, Nis, Serbia.
