The follow note is stored against Charles Parrott record:

Marble Plaque in church. TRANSLATION: Sometime student at the renowned Winchester School , thereafter fellow of New College , Oxford. Rector of this church for almost thirty years. Throughout that time he encouraged with wisdom the flock entrusted to him. He taught by principle and confirmed by example. Honourable , learned and dutiful , holding fast to truth and right , never putting himself before all good works. He embraced family and {colleagues?} with much love. He happily worked upon great literature , which he tempered with cheerfulness and harmless wit. He contributed the profits of his large inheritance to the relief of the poor , to the glory of God , as generously as was judged necessary. He repaired the eastern part of this building and carefully restored the near-decaying antiquities. He laid out and beautified the gardens with remarkable skill and left the land in good condition for his successor. And among the other pledges of his generosity , in the founding of Watton School for the placing of destitute boys , in supporting worthy widows , lest the income be insufficient for the gift , he left an annuity to cover this in trust to New College , Oxford. He died the twelfth day of February in the year of our Lord 1787 at 72 years of age. He surviving wife MARY , daughter of ROBERT FRANCIS of Norwich , placed this with a thankful heart as testimony in some way to a greatly missed man. (Source: NFHS)
