John Herbert Hammett served in the Royal Engineers Postal Section and was awarded the 1914 Star, British War & Victory medals. He served as a Sapper, Regimental number 29214. He served in France from 24th October 1914. He died at home 17th September 1915. As he was not awarded a Silver War Badge it would appear that he died of an illness that was NOT related to his military service.
