Ravené was a rich industrialist of French Hugenot origins; who inherited the family business from his well-established father; Jacob Ravené (who was also buried in the cemetery but the tomb is now destroyed). Peter developed the family interests by investing in copper mines in ANhalt which supplied the new railways. With the resulting wealth; he developed an important art collection which he displayed to the public and part of which now is displayed in the Bode Museum in Berlin. He was an adept of occultism; and predicted - correctly - that he would died in 1861.
