Blaise graduated from the élite St Cyr militairy academy in 1940; escaped to Batonne; and rallied to de Gaulle in London in June 1940. He served with great distinction with the Free French Forces in the Middle East; North Africa and from Augst 1944 in France and Germany. He was appointed a Companion of the Liberation. After the war; he became sales director of Esso.
