Of Portmore. Third and eldest son. Entered the legal profession and was a principal clerk of Session 1804-28. Deputy Keeper of the Signet 1820-8. A friend of Sir Walter Scott. One of the seven original Trustees of the church; entrusted with the task of purchasing the grounds and raising the capital to build the church. Married 13th May 1803. They were the parents of 9 sons and 6 daughters. Colin died on 16th September; 1830. He and his wife are both interred in Greyfriars churchyard in an enclosure on South Wall. GPR grave ref. 138309
