Francis Malcolm McRae was born on 4 March 1875, Patea, South Taranaki to Francis Farquhar McRae and Emily Ruth Humm. At age 24, Francis married Katherine Nicklin on 26 April 1899, St. David's Church, Khyber Pass, Auckland. Francis was shown as a bushman in 1900 in Kamo where the couple lived through at least 1906. They moved to Hobsonville after that where Francis later died. The couple had at least five children. Catherine Emma Nicklin abt 1877 died 4 June 1955 Ponsonby.
