John was Prudence's second husband. Her first, James Tucker, died in 1888, after a fall from his horse in Barnstaple. Her maiden name was Beard. They farmed in Bratton Fleming and, after his death, she went to live with her mother at Plaistow Mills with her children, one of whom was my grandfather.
