Entered on a voyage of discovery 1791-1794 with Capt. Vancouver. In 1800 was the Captain of HMS Brazen ordered to protect the Channel coast from French privateers when it was wrecked in a violent storm on the Newhaven cliffs with the loss of 105 men. There was only one survivor.
