Corporal Aubrey James Robert Cornell Military Medal					Service Number. 7227. Enlisted - 12th October 1916. 10th October 1919 - Awarded the Military Medal During the advance on the 18th September , 1918 , near Le Verguier , heavy machine gun fire was encountered when approaching the final objective. Private CORNELL on his own initiative organised a party and creeping forward bombed the enemy gunners , and captured two machine guns and several prisoners. private CORNELL's gallant and resourceful action enabled the remainder of his Company to gain the objective without any further casualties. - Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 115 NOK - Olive Sarah Margaret Cornell
