Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Charles To follow up my last request I believe this is the grave of Corporal John Strachan who at the time of his death was married to Johan Harper of Wick. Corporal Strachan was a comrade of my late father. My research is aimed at understanding the event that led to the death of Corporal Strachan and consequences through subsequent years. However I was expecting a standard Commonwealth War Grave. I hope to visit this cemetery later this year and will provide you with any information I have at that time.

To read the inscription which is now illegible on the gravestone

Flight Lieutenant Charles Gaines would have been my great uncle. My middle name comes from him. I never met him and want to learn more about him.
