William H MacKay might be a grandson of a collateral ancestor, William MacKay, born 1727 in Achoul; died 1828 in Wick at 101 years. My earliest known direct MacKay ancestor, James, married in 1804, served in the Ross Shire militia, and had children in Faolin Durness; Reay; and Mossedge Wick: Isobel, Donald, John, Barbara, Angus & Janet.
