Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Dinah Dewar Stewart is my gran aunt. I took photos of the gravestones in the Wick cemeteries which I was aware of or could find when my mother died. I either missed this one or maybe it has been erected since I took the photos as it looks quite new for a gravestone in the old cemetery. I was surprised by the fact that her husbands name is James McKenzie Gunn and not James Imre Gunn as would be suggested by his birth reference. However the gravestone matches his death reference. Their marriage reference does not help as he is named as James Gunn. Another of lifes mysteries. Once again thanks for the wonderful job you are doing. James

I believe that the Alexander Gunn on the stone is my father. I know nothing of his (my) family except that they were in Wick and/or Thurso. My grown children would like to know more about their Scottish roots as they are now Canadian/Americans, or their children are. Thank you in advance for trying to help. Sandra Edwards

I live in Canada and my grandmother was Annie Thompson Gunn, daughter of William Sinclair Gunn and Grace Sedgwick. William was an older brother to James Mackenzie Gunn - Dinah's husband. I along with some of my cousins have been piecing together our Gunn family history. My sister and cousins are visitng Wick this summer and will likely visit the Old Municipal Cemetery during their travels. This image of Dinah's gravestone contains information that will help fill in more of the detail in the family tree.

He was a great-great uncle, a younger brother to my great-grandfather William Sinclair Gunn. I live in Canada and have not yet been able to visit Wick to do more family history research. The image helps confirm the other recorded information found online.
