Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Alfred James Tonks was the husband of Alice Maud Tonks nee Spink. Alice Spink, was the sister of Emily Etta Spink, the wife of Albert Dixon, brother of Louisa Dixon, who married my great grandfather Harry Doughty. Harry & Louisa lived in Grimsby in the 1880's. Louisa was formerly married to Thomas Martindale, a Methodist minister who served in Scarborough. A J Tonks left £14,000 in his will, executors being Alice Maude Tonks & Howard Tonks Jackson, company secretary. Now I wonder if in fact that last man was something to do with Jackson property company in Scarborough or worked for John Tonks and Son, upholsterers. Louisa's father Edward is buried in Manor Road cemetery. I can send you a photo of that stone if you want. I am recording gravestone images here in Rothwell, near Leeds. John Readman
