Doing a one-name search on the Shewan surname (my maiden name). I wonder about Jane's date of birth. I believe she was Jane Fiddes Shewan, born 17 Aug 1853 in Belhelvie, Aberdeen to Alexander Sangster Shewan and Catherine Thompson Mark and that she died 13 Oct 1935 in Stirling. Her record of death states: Jane Fiddes McARA widow of John McARA, plasterer, journeyman died October thirteenth 1935 at 7h0m pm at 18 Melville Terrace, Stirling. She was 81 years old; the daughter of Alexander SHEWAN, farmer, and Catherine Shewan ms MARK --both deceased. The cause of death was senility, cardiac failure. Margaret Henderson was my grandmother whom I never met,she died a few days after my mother was born.My mum's grandparents John McAra and Jane Shewin McAraraised her when she was young.I am visiting Scotoland for the first time this year and wanted to locate my grandmother's grave.
