Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I am trying to find information about my maternal grandfather. His name was Wm John Johnston and he died in 1934 at the age of 40. Everyone called him Willie. He was a sign painter by trade and painted pub signs. He was killed in 1934 by accident. He was crossing the street and was hit by a bike and ended up under the wheels of a street car. So he would have been born in 1894.
