Please note that all ages and dates of birth in red have been calculated and are probably not on the monument.

The calculated dates of birth should be treated with caution as in many cases it can be one year out.

The calculated dates of birth should also be treated with caution as the ages given on monuments are often inaccurate.

The names above are all the names that are listed on the grave monument. It is most likely that only the entries with dates and ages are interred in the grave.

Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I am trying to establish whether Edward Strathearn Gordon - NOT this one, but Disraeli's Lord Advocate, and whose mother was born Catherine Smith, daughter of Alexander Smith, had Grenada links through his mother. He certainly had some Grenada links, as he received slave compensation payments for Grenada slaves. he was also a pupil of Inverness RoyalAcademy, where I used to teach, and was baptised - and presumably born - in Inverness in April 1814. Many thanks.

I believe Emily Olga Marian Gordon to be my 4th cousin once removed, although I have her dates as 1871-1963. She died in her 92nd year, so the age matches, and her husband was Rev Arthur Gordon 1854-1919, which also matches. I should like to check whether the date of death is perhaps indistinct. Kind regards, Charles Cox

I have recently moved to Perthshire and am intrigued by a very ruined church at Quoig. I am researching it purely out of interest and in the ruin is a memorial to the Rev Arthur Gordon - judging by the dates it is the same person in the memorial pictured on your site. I would love to read what his memorial says so I can see if it offers any clues to what the ruined church was. Many thanks and best wishes.
