Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Having taken early retirement, I can now pursue some lines of enquiry regarding family history; not really a full-blown genealogy though. My mother's maiden name was Stanfield and there was a strong link between them and the Bartons of Woodford. One uncle was Gilbert Stanfield Barton and I think that he may be the person buried here: his dates match exactly. He was a fine musician in his day: member of the RSM and RCM, and I believe he played under Elgar's baton from time to time. Not sure what I could do to help but happy to pass on any relevant info as I find out more.
