RICHARD1 COOK was born about 1783 in Tawstock Parish, County of Devon, England. ►RICHARD married MARY MOGRIDGE on December 08, 1805 in Stoke Rivers Parish, County of Devon, England. She was born about 1782 in Stoke Rivers Parish, County of Devon, England. · From their children’s baptismal records, the family’s abode was recorded as Pristacott Tawstock in 1815 and 1818; Tawstock in 1819, 1822, and 1825; and Venn by June of 1828. All are in the Tawstock Parish, County of Devon, England. · In the 1841 English census of the Tawstock Parish, at Venn, RICHARD “COOKE”21 was 55 years old, an agricultural laborer with MARY, 56 years old and SARAH, 15 years old.22 · In the 1851 English census of the Tawstock Parish, at Venn Court, Household #25, RICHARD “COOK” was 68 years old and born in Tawstock Parish, County of Devon, England. In the household was wife, MARY, 69 years old, born in Stoke Rivers Parish, County of Devon, England and grandchildren SARAH KERSLAKE, 7 years old, a scholar and WILLIAM KERSLAKE, 3 years old, both born in Tawstock Parish, County of Devon, England.23 · In the 1861 English census of the Tawstock Parish, at Ven, Household #12, RICHARD “COOKE” was 77 years old, agricultural laborer, born in Tawstock Parish, County of Devon, England. Wife, MARY was 78 years old and born in Stoke Rivers Parish, County of Devon, England. Mary and Richard Cook were my 3rd great grandparents. Their son Hugh Cook married Grace Gregg and had a daughter Mary Jane born in 1862. And it continues from there. I have had difficulty tracing my ancestors in Tawstock and before, and any help and information would be greatly appreciated.
