Alexander Larnack
1857481809first name on monumentAlexander (a hotel keeper) was married to Elizabeth Gray (have not found proof of marriage yet) and had four children, Alexander b 1836, Cicely b 1837, John b 1839 & Elizabeth Gray Larnach (b unknown) I am wondering if she is the daughter of Alexander. Isabella who is buried with Alexander is the daughter of John Cormack & Mary (Mery) Larnach. Mary was Alexanders sister. Alexander and Mary are the children of Alexander Larnach and Elizabeth Cormack. I am having alot of trouble tracing this family. I feel Alexander and Elizabeth were a very poor family and Alexander had a drinking problem. His Death Certificate is set out below if you would like a copy. DEATH CERTIFICATE: At Dean, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland On 23rd December 1857 at 12.20pm at Caledonian Hotel, Lothian Rd, Edinburgh. Alexander Larnach, Hotel Keeper, Married, Male, 48 yrs, Son of Alexander Larnach, Blacksmith Master, (Deceased) and Isabella Larnach, ms Cormack (Deceased). COD: Alcoholic Poisoning, he had been drinking very hard for 24 hours, as certified by J. Brown MD who saw the deceased on 23rd December 1857. Burial: West? Church Burial Ground as certified by Alexander Russell, Undertaker. Informant: John Larnach, son, present. I hope this gives you some information on my Larnach family. You are welcome to use the Death Certificate if needed. Would you have any further info on this family of mine??

Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

I have been tracing my Larnach family for 20 years and have just come across your site when I looked for different spellings. My mother was a Larnach and I am so grateful I have found your site, will look for more there now. I am hoping there is more information on the headstone that will give me more information. Thank you, Marilyn
