Research into Lizars family, particularly William Home Lizars, Engraver. I am far from Edinburgh and unable to search for and record the monument myself at the moment. If you are interested I can immediately send you some relational information on some of the people recorded on this monument.

My records say this: John Lizars (shoemaker, d. 1/4/1802 aged 78) m. Margaret Hunter (d. 30 Nov. 1802 aged 79). They had seven children: James (shoemaker?, possibly a large family) d. 1/18/1805; William (1788-1859) m. Henrietta Wilson (d. 1870); Daniel (engraver 1754=1812) m. Margaret "Bonny Peggy" Home; John (twice married, no children); Allison m. Mr. Ronald; Johann (a female!) m. Mr. Skinner; Hellen m. Mr. Purvis. Second generation from Daniel the engraver: William Home Lizars (engraver, no children); John FRGSE 1792-1860 m. Sarah McCracken 1794-1885, no children; Alexander (surgeon, Marischal College, Aberdeen, twice married, daughter from 1st marr. died, 2nd marriage no issue; Daniel Home Lizars (engraver, married Robina Hutcheson, 9 children. I descend from them so if you need info, pls contact); Henry (architect m. Jane Marshall, 4 children d. Edinburgh); Robert (Lt. 35th Rgmt, d. West Indies); Charles (Lt. Royal Cape Corps d. Africa, one daughter died); Magdalene d. Edinurch 1824 m. John Brewster d. Canada, son in USA.
