Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

MacMurdo is my family name from my father's side and I hope to learn more about my heritage. This perhaps may help. The G L seems familiar for what I have learned is that Goven and Leland are names used across several generations and the geographical area may be right for my family history.

Major George Lewis McMurdo and Anne Pringle are my ggggggrandparents. Their grandaughter Annie McMurdo Hudson came to Canada (Ontario) from Edinburgh, Scotland with her husband the Rev George Petrie, a travelling missionary, in the 1840s. Many thanks for all your work. Julie Leggatt
