Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

My name is Debbie Darling and George Thomas Wood is my Grandfather. He was killed while visiting Sri Lanka in 1924 with a Special Squadron Force who were undertaking a world tour. He was a Petty Officer aboard HMS Repulse and died in the Government Hospital at Dambulla as a result of injuries sustained in a road traffic accident on 29th January 1924. His funeral service was held in St Paul's church, Kandy City, after an inquest was held into the accident by Mr C. Harrison-Jones, Assistant Government Agent of Matale. I am so excited to have found his grave - thank you so much.
