James Smy and his wife Elizabeth nee Pallant were my ggg grandparents. James b.21/12/1792 Iken was a surveyor (several of his maps are in the Suffolk record office) and later postmaster of Saxmundham. He was s/o James Smy, farmer, and Susan nee Salter. Elizabeth Pallant, b.4/4/1797 in Aldeburgh, d/o Samuel Pallant, Trinity House pilot and Jane nee Spurling.
